Various technologies exist for the production of Gas Hot Water. We thus distinguish: micro and mini-accumulation, accumulation and instantaneous. To choose the one that best suits your accommodation, several parameters should be taken into account.
The boiler and domestic hot water production
You can opt for a simple boiler that does not produce hot water. In this case, another system will produce the hot water for your home (electric water heater). However, you can choose a boiler that will also produce domestic hot water, it is then a mixed boiler.
Thus, the boilers installed are mainly systems ensuring the production of hot water.
The 4 modes of domestic hot water production
The production of hot water with a gas boiler in your home therefore works in 4 main modes. These belong to different price ranges. Here is a classification ranging from the least expensive to the most expensive and thus from the least comfortable to the most comfortable.
1- Instant hot water production
Instant hot water production is the most basic and the cheapest. It is characterized by switching on the device when the tap is opened. This type of boiler is intended for small areas (-90 m²) with only one bathroom.
Benefits
- Inexpensive price
- Compact boiler
- You heat water only when you need it
2- Hot water production by micro-accumulation
Also called semi-instantaneous, this hot water production system with a gas boiler is characterized by maintaining a low volume of hot water. This then makes it possible to reduce the waiting time for the arrival of hot water in the tap.
This hot water supply system is therefore suitable for homes with 3 or 4 occupants: homes with only one bathroom, for example.
Benefits
- Hot water available quickly
- Water and gas savings are key
Hot water production by mini-accumulation
The mini-accumulation stores slightly more Hot water systems than the micro. It is characterized by a tank generally with a capacity of less than 5 liters storing hot water. Its use is suitable for housing with a single bathroom with 3 or 4 inhabitants.
Benefits
- Reduced waiting time for obtaining hot water
- Gas and water savings
- Ideal for multi-use (bathroom, sink, kitchen, etc.)
Hot water production by accumulation
This type of boiler has a storage tank , the volume of which is generally at least 40 liters. This system provides the best comfort of use by providing hot water everywhere and at any time.
The production of hot water by accumulation is therefore suitable for homes with several bathrooms. It is thus intended for large families for simultaneous use.
Benefits
- Great comfort of use
- Increased stability
- Simultaneous use
- High and regular hot water flow
Hot water production with storage boiler: two possible choices
In the case of the Hot water storage boiler, there are two possible systems. Namely the coil tank and the tank charging system with plate heat exchanger. The latter offers higher performance but is more sensitive to lime deposit.
In fact, the boiler with a coil cylinder has a lower domestic flow rate. While its counterpart with a charging system benefits from a better flow at the same power.
The coil hot water tank is therefore intended for areas where the water is harder. However, it is important to carry out checks as all balloons are sensitive to lime. Thus maintenance-free, the coil balloon will eventually be subject to the effects of limestone with in addition a higher consumption.
The advantage of having a hot water tank as close as possible to the boiler
It is important that the hot water tank is as close as possible to the boiler. This allows the water to heat up much faster. This heating speed therefore makes it possible to save energy by reducing the fuel consumption requirements.
The production of hot water with a gas boiler offers, depending on the dwelling profile, a certain comfort of use. For family homes, opting for a system with a hot water tank pays for itself quite easily.
